Journal de Montreux
SwitzerlandFounded in 1936 as result of the merger of two daily newspapers – Feuille d’avis de Montreux (1897) and Messager de Montreux (1899). In 1972 Journal de Montreux merged with Feuille d’avis du district d’Aigle and Courrier de Leysin to continue as L’Est vaudois.(Des journaux et des hommes by Jean-Pierre Chuard, p 236)
This 6-page special edition of the Journal de Montreux came out immediately after the casino inferno and is entirely dedicated to this tragedy. It is richly illustrated with photos of the fire and contains a cool Frank Zappa section.
