TAN Mitsugu:

This book is Volume 21 of his "Scrapbook" series, which collected his writings from various magazines. As the title suggests, this volume focuses on "New Rock" of the late '60s. It gathered his articles dating from 1968 to 1971, which originally appeared on New Music Magazine, Swing Journal, Bijutsu Techo, Shukan Dokushojin, etc.

Throughout the book, Uekusa mentions FZ and the MOI here and there. One of the articles is entitled "From Vanilla Fudge to the Mothers of Invention". (Note: Uekusa wrote liner notes for the Japanese pressing of Freak Out! in 1969.)

Another feature of this book is the artwork provided by Yagi Yasuo (the author of "Zappa Vox"). Some of the illustrations are entitled "PIPCO STUDIO". Yagi also wrote the afterword of this book, describing how much influence he got from Uekusa.
